Crystal Palace have agreed to pay out the best part of £3m to bring in Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool.
According to a report in the Daily Mail the London club are paying a £2m loan fee as well as picking up the defender’s wages of £100,000/week.
Sakho missed last night’s win away to Bournemouth with Palace now preparing an intensive fitness programme to get the defender ready for the remaining 15 matches of the season.
The defender fell foul of Jurgen Klopp during Liverpool’s pre-season trip to the United States and hasn’t kicked a ball since returning home early from the trip.
Liverpool had hoped to sell Sakho for £20m but with his wage demands and being frozen out of football for eight months there were no takers.
Sam Allardyce searched high and low for players during January and was hardly in a position to negotiate a better deal.
Both clubs will be hoping that Sakho is a big success with Palace needing points to avoid the drop and Liverpool hoping that a buyer can be found if the former PSG hits form.
