Manchester United appear to be closing in on the signing of goalkeeper Andre Onana from Inter Milan.

The Cameroonian is set to complete a move to Old Trafford to replace David de Gea who left the club last week, according to Fabrizio Romano.

De Gea ended his 12-year spell with the Red Devils earlier this month following the expiry of his contract, but it appears that the Spaniard may have already found himself a new club.

According to Football Insider, the ‘keeper has opened talks over a potential move to Saudi Arabia.

The report claims that the 32-year-old remains the subject of interest from a number of European clubs, but his agent Jorge Mendez is currently working to finalise a move to the Saudi Pro League.

During his time in Manchester, De Gea made a total of 545 appearances across all competitions, including 415 in the Premier League.

De Gea left Manchester United last week

He kept no fewer than 190 clean sheets for the club, and won the Premier League’s Golden Glove award on two occasions – most recently last term.

The Spaniard is one of six goalkeepers to have won the award more than once, and he has also been named Manchester United’s player of the year on four occasions – in 2014, 2015, 2018 and 2022.

At one point the Spain international had looked likely to extend his stay with the club beyond this summer, but United were reported to have withdrawn a contract offer after reduced terms had been agreed.

The player is said to have signed the proposal, before United withdrew the offer and instead tabled an even lower offer to De Gea.

During his time at Old Trafford De Gea won a total of five major trophies, including the Premier League, FA Cup and Europa League.

So far this summer several players have completed moved to the Saudi Arabian Pro League, including the likes of Karim Benzema, N’Golo Kante, and Ruben Neves.
