Derby County and Sheffield Wednesday have both reportedly made enquiries over the availability of Huddersfield Town winger Sean Scannell, according to Pete O’Rourke.

The Championship duo, who currently sit 18th and 19th in the league standings after slow starts to their respective 2016/17 campaigns, have been linked with making a deadline day move for the highly-rated forward ahead of the summer transfer window’s close tonight at 11:00pm.

The 25-year-old, who is a former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international, has played six games in all competitions for the Terriers so far this campaign as David Wagner’s side sit top of the Championship table after five fixtures.

Scannell, who began his senior career at Premier League side Crystal Palace before a switch to Huddersfield back in 2012, scored one goal and provided four assists for the John Smith’s Stadium outfit last season.

However, Scannell has only started one league game under head coach Wagner so far this term, hence the late interest from the Rams and Owls.
