Derby County are reportedly ready to make a January move for Premier League striker Dwight Gayle.

The Championship club, who sit just two points behind league leaders Middlesbrough in second spot, are interested in bringing in the Crystal Palace hitman to the iPro Stadium during next month’s transfer window.

The 25-year-old, who was playing non-league football with Bishop’s Stortford only three years ago, has failed to score in all seven of his Premier League appearances so far this season for Alan Pardew’s Eagles.

Rams boss Paul Clement is thought to be eager on bringing in another forward in the New Year to help with Derby’s promotion push in order to return to the English top-flight for the first time since 2008.
