Arsenal have confirmed the signing of Spanish striker, Lucas Perez form La Liga side Deportivo La Coruna, for a reported fee of £17.1m.

The Gunners have been in the market for a both a forward and a central defender this summer as fans at The Emirates called for manager Arsene Wenger to match the spending of title rivals such as Man United and Man City, who have not held back when it comes to splashing the cash this summer.

In terms of the need for another defender the North London club are expected to announce Valencia’s Skhodran Mustafi before the deadline.

27-year-old Perez, who scored 17 league goals last season – more than any Arsenal player – will look to add bite to a front line that has been lacking an out-and-out goalscorer for a long time now.

The former PAOK man follows Granit Xhaka, Rob Holding and Takuma Asano through the doors at the club, with the German defender expected to be the final addition before the window closes on Wednesday.
