It has been a very good start for Norwich City this season and a big factor in that has been the dazzling form of the Murphy twins – Josh and Jacob.

Both spent some time away from Carrow Road last season, going on loan to Milton Keynes Dons and Coventry City respectively and getting some valuable game time.

The results are clear for everyone to see, with both having a huge impact on the first-team squad so far and also adding consistency to their undoubted ability.

It has been a fantastic start, particularly for Jacob, as he sits at the top of the club’s goalscoring charts with five goals, cementing a regular place in the team.

The goals have been a reward for some great performances, with the winger terrorising opposition defences and repaying the faith of manager Alex Neil, who deserves a lot of credit too.

In Norwich’s final pre-season game against Hannover, Jacob was subbed after half an hour with the Canaries struggling to cope with the movement on the Germans’ left side.

Despite this, the young winger was still included in the starting eleven at Blackburn Rovers a week later and has not looked back since – even scoring a belter in the curtain raiser (Video below).

It has been a great start for Jacob and I am sure it will continue because he is a grounded lad who is always thanking the supporters and seems desperate to just play the game he loves.

His twin brother Josh is very similar and he has had to be patient for his chance this season, but keeps taking his opportunities and is undoubtedly giving his boss a headache.

Josh has had experience of playing in the first-team before, having featured in Norwich’s previous Championship campaign and chipping in with a few goals.

He has had to take his chances from the bench and in the cup competitions this campaign though, but has delivered when called upon and scored a beautiful goal against Cardiff City.

After replacing his brother against Burton on Saturday, he made another contribution and set Ivo Pinto up for the third goal to secure victory for the Canaries.

That followed up a dazzling midweek display at Everton, where he scored a fantastic solo goal – which Norwich fans will know is starting to become a regular occurrence!

It surely will not be long until we have both of them starting for the club and they have already been linked with Premier League clubs, which is no surprise at all.

The most pleasing thing for Norwich fans is the fact that they are two players who have come through the club from a young age and are desperate to play for our side.

They have had to be patient at times and have had to go out to other clubs on loan to gain vital experience – which they have taken every time.

Any young player wanting to make it needs to take note of the Murphy twins because they are an example of how far hard work can get you.

There should also be a lot of credit to the loan system, which has been vital to help these young lads out. It has matured them to come back stronger and hungrier every time.

The only problem is telling them apart! I’m sure Norwich fans will not mind if they continue how they have started this season though.
