Premier League side Liverpool will visit Championship outfit Burton Albion in the second-round of the English Football League Cup later this month.

Last season’s runners-up, who eventually lost 3-1 (1-1 AET) on penalties to champions Manchester City at Wembley Stadium, will make the trip to the Pirelli Stadium in the week commencing August 22.

Meanwhile fellow top-flight club Chelsea, under new management in former Italy coach Antonio Conte, will welcome either Bristol City or Bristol Rovers to Stamford Bridge.

The uncertainty is because of Rovers’ first round tie at home to Cardiff City on Thursday night. If the Bluebirds win, they will be seeded in the second round and face League One side Scunthorpe United, meaning Bristol City make the trip east to Chelsea.

Whereas; if the Pirates prevail victorious, rivals Rovers will be unseeded and visit Stamford Bridge, meaning the Robins will instead play Scunthorpe themselves.

Elsewhere; new Everton boss Ronald Koeman will come up against League Two opponents Yeovil Town at Goodison Park, whilst recently relegated sides Newcastle United and Norwich City take on defending National Conference champions Cheltenham Town and League One Coventry City respectively.
