England have beaten Germany to win the women’s Euro 2022 trophy at Wembley.

The Lionesses had been in sensational form throughout the tournament but faced a Germany side that had won all eight of their previous finals.

The two sides were very evenly matched for the majority of the game before Ella Toone’s spectacular lobbed finish put England ahead.

Toone’s strike sparked pandemonium inside Wembley but it was relatively short-lived as Lina Magull drew Germany level around 15 minutes later.

The game went to extra-time and looked to be heading for penalties before Chloe Kelly netted her first ever England goal ten minutes before the final whistle.

Sarina Wiegman’s side held on to become the first ever England side to win the Euros, and the players celebrated in front of the crowd of 87,192 fans – a record for a Euro final.

Congrats to the Lionesses, they have done England proud!
