Liverpool will face Premier League rivals Brighton and Hove Albion in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup.

Arne Slot’s side booked their place in round four with a convincing 5-1 win over West Ham United, with Diogo Jota and Cody Gakpo each netting a brace, either side of a Mohamed Salah goal.

Next up for the Reds in the Premier League is a visit to struggling Wolves, who have picked up just one point so far this term and sit rock bottom of the table.

In the meantime, Liverpool appear to have been handed a huge transfer boost.

According to Football Insider, Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi has told his friends that he intends to join a ‘bigger club’ than Newcastle United, following the Magpies’ pursuit of him over the summer.

Newcastle had at least four offers for the centre-back rejected during the recent window, with Palace standing firm on their valuation of the player.

Guehi has attracted interest from both Newcastle and Liverpool

It is also claimed that the England international is keen on the idea of a move to Anfield, with the report suggesting that he ‘would jump’ at the opportunity amid interest from the Reds.

Guehi, 24, joined Palace from Chelsea in the summer of 2021, having failed to force his way into the first team at Stamford Bridge.

The defender was one of the most highly regarded products of Chelsea’s youth system, but made just two senior appearances for the Blues before leaving.

Since swapping Stamford Bridge for Selhurst Park, Guehi has proved himself to be one of the Premier League’s most talented central defenders.

The Englishman has played 118 times for the Eagles across all competitions, and his impressive form over the past couple of seasons have earned him a regular place in the England squad.

Guehi has now been capped 18 times by the Three Lions, and was a regular at the European Championships in Germany earlier this year.

He is contracted to Palace for two more years, and the London side are likely to remain adamant that their £75 million valuation of the player is met if he is to be sold.
