England have been drawn against USA and Iran in Group B for the World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Gareth Southgate’s side were seeded for the draw and therefore featured in pot one, while USA were selected as the pot two representative.

Iran were selected from pot three, while either Wales, Scotland or Ukraine will complete the group.

If Scotland prevail from the play-offs, they will face England for the second successive international tournament, with the two sides having met at Euro 2020.

The showpiece, which begins on 21 November, marks the first time that the tournament has been held in the Middle-East.

Brazil legend Cafu selected England to be in group b.

The Three Lions will be hoping to build on their impressive performances at each of the past two international tournaments, having reached the semi-finals of the 2018 World Cup and the final of the 2020 European Championships.

Southgate’s side are considered among the favourites to lift the trophy on December 18, with Germany, Brazil and France also hotly tipped.

England and USA’s last World Cup meeting was back in 2010, when the two sides played out a 1-1 draw, with Clint Dempsey’s strike cancelling out Steven Gerrard’s early opener.

England v Iran will take place on the opening day of the tournament.
