Having already qualified for Euro 2016 next summer, Roy Hodgson has already hinted that he is ready to experiment in England’s final two qualifying matches.
With Wayne Rooney doubtful for Friday’s home match against Estonia at Wembley, it will provide an opportunity for some of the other attackers in the squad to stake their claim for a starting place. Two of those players come in the form of Arsenal’s Theo Walcott and Leicester’s Jamie Vardy.
The former has always said that he wants to play up top, and has begun to do so for the Gunners in recent weeks, while the latter has enjoyed an explosive campaign, and is the Premier League’s leading goalscorer with seven goals so far this term.
