As the dust begins to settle from England’s painful Euro 2020 final defeat to Italy, we can all reflect on a tournament well done.

It was the first final the Three Lions had seen in 55 years and Gareth Southgate’s progressive side brought the country together at a much needed time.

There were heroes all over with everybody from captain and top goalscorer Harry Kane, to Conor Coady, who did not make it onto the pitch but still showed excellent leadership and motivational skills from the sidelines.

National tournaments have a habit of increasing the stock and interest of players such as Luke Shaw, who became only the third player after Martin Peters and Geoff Hurst to score in a major final for England.

However, the player who assisted the former Southampton star’s historic goal, Kieran Trippier, could potentially be set to assist more goals for him as Man United are, according to the Telegraph, keen in bringing him to Old Trafford,

Trippier played as a right wing-back, right-back and even as a left-back at Euro 2020.

Trippiercurrently plies his trade for Spanish side Atletico Madrid but is thought to be extremely keen on a return to the Premier League, where he has played for Burnley and Tottenham.

The 30-year-old played a key role in Atletico’s triumphant La Liga title victory last term, and it appears Ole Gunnar Solskjaer could be keen in adding his experience to United’s backline.

It is also rumoured Solskjaer is willing to try fellow English right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka as a central defender, which would create a space for Trippier to slide into what could be an all English back-four.

Trippier has a current market value of £18 million according to transfermarkt, but with two years still left on his Atletico contract it would likely need around £30 million to prise the ex-Spurs full-back away from the Wanda Metropolitano.
