England international Gary Cahill’s future at Chelsea is in doubt ahead of the Blues’ potential £3.5m signing of Matt Miazga, according to the Evening Standard.

The 30-year-old, who has 40 international caps for the Three Lions, is reportedly the subject of late January interest from Italian giants AS Roma.

Cahill, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from Bolton Wanderers over four years ago for a reported £7m, has made just 12 Premier League appearances for Guus Hiddink’s side this season.

The centre-half, who has seemingly fallen behind fellow defender Kurt Zouma in the pecking order, is concerned about his future at the defending league champions despite signing a new four-year contract just eight weeks ago.

Cahill’s service has come into question since the expected arrival of New York Red Bulls’ Miazga before Monday’s deadline (23:00 GMT) was announced yesterday.

Former Liverpool midfielder Danny Murphy; speaking to Talksport, believes the Chelsea defender would be a perfect fit for the Reds to boost his Euro 2016 hopes.
