Euro 2016 Q&A: Craig David tips England to go all the way and Jamie Vardy to be top scorer

The 2016 European Championships in France kick off on Friday night when France host Romania at the Stade de France.

So, we at Shoot thought we would get some tournament predictions from musicians, starting with England fan, Craig David, who has just released his new single, ‘One More Time’.

Here are the singer’s thoughts on Euro 2016…

1. How far do you think England can go at Euro 2016?

“I think we can win it! Why not? We’ve got a great young team who are hungry to succeed so on our day we can beat anyone.”

2. Which English player are you most excited to see at this summer’s tournament?

“Ryan Bertrand! I have to go with a Saints player. He’s a great player who’s had an amazing season for us so I’m looking forward to seeing how he performs in a big international tournament like the Euros.”

3. How much of an impact do you think the likes of Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy and Dele Alli can have for the Three Lions given their impressive Premier League campaigns?

“Hopefully they can take us all the way. They’re three great players who we’re all hoping will deliver when it matters most.”

Craig David gives us his thoughts on Euro 2016.

4. Should Wayne Rooney start for England?

100%. He’s still a world class player and on his day he’s better than anyone.

5. Which player, who missed out on the 23-man squad, would you like to have been included in England’s Euro 2016 squad this summer?

“I think Danny Drinkwater was really unlucky not to get in the squad considering the season he’s just had. It just shows the quality of players we have that someone who’s just won a league title can’t get in the 23.”

6. Do any of the other home nations [Wales, Rep of Ireland, Northern Ireland] have a hope of progressing to the latter stages?

“Of course. They’ve all had good qualifying rounds so there’s no reason they can’t progress to the latter stages.”

7. Who do you think will win the Euros?

“England. You have to believe!”

8. Who are you expecting to be the player of the tournament?

“I think Jamie Vardy’s going to be the guy this summer. He’s had an unbelievable season and I’m confident he’ll take his form into the Euros.”

9. Which player do you think could emerge as a young star?

“Rashford. I’ve seen a lot of people saying that they don’t expect him to get a game but I think we’ll see a few super sub cameo roles.”

10. Who do you think will be the top scorer at the Euros?

“Jamie Vardy.”
