Euro 2016 Q&A: Draper tips England to reach the quarter-finals and Harry Kane to shine

The 2016 European Championships are underway and it has been predictably engrossing ever since France kicked off with a 2-1 win against Romania in Paris on Friday night.

We at Shoot thought we would get some tournament predictions from musicians, starting with Draper, a French-born British producer, who has just released his new single, ‘One More Time’.

Here are his thoughts on Euro 2016…

1. How far do you think England can go at Euro 2016?

“I think we have a great chance of reaching the final if we get off to a good start, although realistically watching England in big tournaments usually involves disappointment, so probably the quarter-finals!”

2. Which English player are you most excited to see at this summer’s tournament?

“Harry Kane after the season he’s had – if he plays like he has this year then we’ve got a great chance!”

Draper gives us his thoughts on Euro 2016.

3. How much of an impact do you think the likes of Kane, Jamie Vardy and Dele Alli can have for the Three Lions given their impressive Premier League campaigns?

“It’s great to see some new faces in the side for this tournament, there’s some great young talent. Kane and Vardy have already proven that they can be game-changers when called upon, and Alli is up there as one of my players of the season, so I’m excited to see where we can go in these Euros.”

4. Should Wayne Rooney start for England?

“I think so, but in that deeper-lying role he’s been playing recently for United. His experience in the national side will be invaluable for us in the big games.”

5. Which player, who missed out on the 23-man squad, would you like to have seen included in England’s Euro 2016 squad this summer?

“Danny Drinkwater is the surprise omission for me. He’s been virtually ever-present in Leicester’s title-winning midfield this year, so I do feel for him.”

6. Do any of the other home nations [Wales, Rep of Ireland, Northern Ireland] have a hope of progressing to the latter stages?

“On paper no, but there’s always a surprise package in these tournaments!”

7. Who do you think will win the Euros?

“I can see a France vs Germany final. France might be boosted by their home advantage.”

8. Who are you expecting to be the player of the tournament?

“I’m going to say Martial for France, or Ozil for Germany.”

9. Which player do you think could emerge as a young star?

“Marcus Rashford if he gets a start! Otherwise, Kimmich for Germany could be worth keeping an eye on.”

10. Who do you think will be the top scorer at the Euros?

“Cristiano Ronaldo or Antoine Griezmann.”
