European clubs keen on signing Tottenham’s £8m defender

AS Roma and Sevilla are reportedly in the hunt to land Premier League defender Federico Fazio before the close of the January transfer window, according to Estadio Deportivo.

The 28-year-old, who joined Tottenham from the La Liga side back in August 2014 for a reported £8m, is expected to leave White Hart Lane before Monday’s deadline (23:00 GMT).

Fazio, who has three international caps for Argentina, has made just one League Cup appearance for Spurs this season.

Having become heavily out-of-favour under manager Mauricio Pochettino this term; with fellow centre-backs Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld firmly the first choice pairing at Tottenham, both Roma and former club Sevilla are keen on snapping up the defender on an initial loan deal, with a view to a permanent switch.
