England have enjoyed a successful start to their Euro 2024 qualification campaign over the past week.

The Three Lions sit top of Group C following victories over both Italy and Ukraine, and will fancy their chances of going on to qualify for the tournament in Germany next year.

The likes of Declan Rice, Harry Kane and Bukayo Saka all impressed during the international break, but one player that wasn’t involved at all was Mason Mount.

The Chelsea midfielder pulled out of the squad due to injury, and his future at club level remains uncertain.

According to The Times, German champions Bayern Munich are hoping to sign the Englishman this summer.

Mount, 24, will enter into the final 12 months of his contract this summer, and several clubs are said to be interested in his services.

It is claimed that Chelsea could look to sell Mount this summer rather than losing him for free next summer, although The Blues would reportedly demand around £50 million for the player.

Mount looks increasingly likely to leave Chelsea this summer

A product of the club’s youth system, Mount made his senior debut for Chelsea in 2019 following a number of loan spells.

He has now scored 33 goals and provided 37 assists in 192 appearances for the club, firmly establishing himself as a fans’ favourite at Stamford Bridge.

New Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel, who managed Chelsea until September last year, is said to still be a huge admirer of Mount, who played an integral role as the German guided Chelsea to the Champions League in 2021.

Mount, who remains one of Chelsea’s lowest-paid players, is said to be at a stalemate in contract negotiations with his current club.

The player’s last contract was signed shortly before he made his senior debut for the club in 2019, and he has since reached several milestones as well as becoming a regular for both club and country.

The Bundesliga champions could therefore look to take advantage of the situation and land Mount this summer, although Liverpool are also said to hold significant interest in the England international.
