Everton have reportedly agreed a club-record £30m fee to sign France international star Moussa Sissoko on transfer deadline day, according to Sky Sports.

The Premier League side, who climbed up to fourth in the English top-flight standings following their 1-0 victory over Stoke City at the weekend, are set to finalise a late move for the in-demand Newcastle United midfielder before the close of the summer transfer window tonight at 11:00pm.

The 27-year-old, who starred for his country during this summer’s European Championships in his homeland as France lost out to Portugal in the final, scored one goal and provided eight assists in 39 appearances in all competitions for the Magpies last season as they suffered relegation from the Premier League.

Sissoko, who was also said to be attracting interest from top-flight rivals Tottenham as well on deadline day, has made it clear that his future lies away from St James’ Park following the club’s demotion to the second-tier of English football.

The Frenchman will become the Toffee’s new club-record signing regarding his £30m price tag, a fee that surpassed the previous milestone set by striker Romelu Lukaku back in July 2014 following his arrival from Chelsea.
