It’s been a busy Deadline Day for Everton football club but not on the transfer front.

Earlier on Monday, the Toffees appointed Frank Lampard as their new manager until June 2024, ending the former Chelsea boss’ 12 months out of the game.

Lampard could be quick to stamp his mark on the playing squad with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reporting that he’s set to make a big signing in the last hours of the window.

According to Fabrizio, the new Everton chief is close to signing Tottenham Hotspur’s Dele Alli.

The 25-year-old has struggled for form at Spurs over the past few years which has seen him lose his place in Gareth Southgate’s England squad.

Lampard is the new Everton manager.

Previous to that, the midfielder was one of the most highly-rated players in Europe after rising to stardom following his transfer from MK Dons in 2015.

It’s claimed that the two clubs have agreed a permanent transfer and that the player is now set for a medical.

A loan deal was not a possibility as the Goodison Park are set to have two domestic loans on their books.

Anwar El Ghazi is on loan from Aston Villa, while Donny van de Beek is having a medical ahead of a temporary move from Manchester United.

Dele, who has scored 51 Premier League goals in 181 matches, will be desperate to reignite his career and reach the levels when he played a key role in helping the Three Lions reach the semi final of the 2018 World Cup.

Maybe Everton is the club and Lampard is the manager to to do just that.
