Everton and Aston Villa are reportedly interested in handing Serbia international Nemanja Vidic a return to the Premier League next month.

The Premier League duo, who sit 10th and 20th in the current standings respectively, are monitoring the former Manchester United defender’s situation at Inter Milan ahead of the forthcoming January transfer window.

The 34-year-old, who has 34 internationals caps for his country, has failed to make a single first-team appearance for the Serie A giants so far this season.

Inter boss Roberto Mancini is understood to be disappointed with Vidic’s contribution at the San Siro and is reportedly set to terminate his contract in the New Year, with both the Toffees and Villans ready to snap up the ex-United fan favourite on a free transfer.

Vidic, who left Old Trafford last July, scored 21 goals in 300 games for the Red Devils between 2006 and 2014.
