Everton and Liverpool lock horns for Eredivisie starlet

Merseyside rivals Everton and Liverpool are reportedly both interested in signing Ajax starlet Anwar El Ghazi.

Following yesterday’s entertaining 1-1 draw at Goodison Park, where Reds boss Brendan Rodgers was sacked just hours after the final whistle, it has emerged that both Premier League clubs are monitoring the highly-rated winger.

The 20-year-old, who has been capped seven times for the Netherlands’ Under-21 squad, has already scored seven goals in just eight league games for the Eredivisie outfit so far this season.

Toffees manager Roberto Martinez has reportedly already flown to Holland in order to watch El Ghazi in the flesh, although Everton’s approach has alerted their arch-rivals Liverpool, with Southampton also said to be tracking the youngster’s performances at the Amsterdam ArenA.
