Everton and Manchester City are targeting a summer move for Leicester goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel, according to The Sun and The Daily Mail.

The Foxes shot-stopper was key part of Claudio Ranieri’s title-winning side in the 2015/16 campaign, and has arguably been even more integral in the Midlands side’s quest to avoid the drop this time round.

The 30-year-old has kept 13 clean sheets in 41 games in all competitions this term, and has produced man-of-the-match displays in victories over Watford, West Ham, and Liverpool in recent months to help Craig Shakespeare’s men move away from the bottom three to the relative safety of mid-table.

And it’s form which has attracted interest from the upper echelons of the Premier League, with Ronald Koeman’s Everton and Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City reportedly eyeing up a move for the Denmark international this summer.

Koeman’s current options at Goodison Park, Joel Robles and Maarten Stekelenburg, have both struggled to nail down the number one spot this season, hence they have both been in and out of the side, while Claudio Bravo has been hugely unconvincing in his first campaign at the Etihad Stadium.

Ultimately, both sides need a quality shot-stopper to help take them to the next level, be it Everton’s quest to break into the top six or City’s challenge for the title, and there’s little doubt that the 30-year-old could be that keeper.
