Everton are preparing a surprise move for Rekeil Pyke.

According to a report in The Sun, Ronald Koeman has been alerted to the young striker who has been on loan at Colchester without scoring a goal.

Pyke has been described as a beast of a kid with those qualities appealing to the Everton boss.

The 19-year-old was sent on loan from Huddersfield last season and impressed in a handful of appearances for Colchester.

Everton are keen to shop in the lower leagues regardless of the prices involved with Ademola Lookman signed from Charlton in January.

Pyke has a lot of rough edges to be knocked off his game but with Koeman committed to his Everton project there is no rush to push him into the first team before his time.

If a deal can be agreed with Huddersfield Pyke will be sent out on loan next season with Everton’s having an impressive record in developing young players through to first team level.
