Amidst all the stories of Everton trying to keep hold of Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley – not to mention the fallout from a certain newspaper article about the latter- the Toffees plans for next season have almost slipped under the radar.

Ronald Koeman has been linked with Swansea City’s Icelandic play maker Gylfi Sigurdsson for several months now and the latest reports indicate the Everton boss is ready to offer the midfielder a bumper pay deal to tempt him to Goodison Park.

Sigurdsson has been instrumental in keeping Swansea competitive this season and it’s  safe to say if it wasn’t for him they’d already be doomed to relegation rather than in with a fighting chance of survival despite a recent awful run of just one point from six games.

Paul Clement will struggle to keep hold of his star player even if he does keep the Swans up and it appears Everton remain front runners.
