Everton are leading a four club battle to sign Jordan Ponticelli.

According to a report in The Sun the 18-year-old Coventry striker is also in the thoughts of Crystal Palace, Huddersfield and Leicester City.

Ponticelli scored 27 times in the Professional Development League which is contested by the u-18 sides from clubs outside of the Premier League. The next highest scorer had 21 goals to his name.

Coventry are hoping to have Ponticelli leading the line in their bid to win promotion from League Two next season but could struggle to hold on to the striker with four clubs ready to offer money and a route into the Premier League.

Koeman has shown with the signing of Ademola Lookman from Charlton that he is prepared to look to the lower league for players and give them a chance.

With the transfer market getting increasingly competitive Everton may have to move quickly to bring Ponticelli to Goodison Park.
