Everton are reportedly interested in signing Netherlands international goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen this summer, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Premier League side, who currently sit 12th in the English top-flight standings following last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at home to Arsenal, want the Ajax shot stopper to become an ideal replacement for fellow ‘keeper Tim Howard, who is set to return to Major League Soccer come the end of the current 2015-16 campaign.

The 26-year-old, who has 24 international caps for his country, has kept an impressive 17 clean sheets in 38 appearances in all competitions for the Eredivisie outfit so far this season.

Cillessen, who was also a transfer target for Premier League giants Manchester United last summer due to Real Madrid’s pursuit of David De Gea, was watched by the Toffee’s scouts against PSV Eindhoven last weekend in Ajax’s 2-0 victory.

The report suggests that the Dutch outfit would demand a transfer fee of up to £10m for the 6ft 1in ‘keeper, who starred for his country at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
