Everton are reportedly ready to offer £50m in a bid to land Netherlands international defender Virgil van Dijk this month, according to the Mirror.
The Premier League side, who sit seventh in the top-flight standings following Friday’s 2-2 draw against struggling Hull City at the KCOM Stadium, have been linked with a move for the Southampton star during January’s transfer window.
The 25-year-old, who has 12 international caps for his country, has scored three goals in 26 appearances in all competitions for The Saints so far this season.
Van Dijk, who was sent off for a second bookable offence during yesterday’s 2-1 home defeat to West Brom, is also said to be attracting interest from Premier League rivals Manchester City.
The report suggests Toffees boss Ronald Koeman has asked the club’s majority shareholder, Farhad Moshiri, to stump up £50m to land the Dutchman this month.
Koeman was the man who brought Van Dijk to Southampton from Celtic back in September 2015.
