Everton are thought to be lining up an £8m summer swoop for Bosnia and Herzegovina international Asmir Begovic, according to The Sun.

The Premier League side, who currently sit 11th in the standings respectively following their 1-0 defeat to West Brom last weekend, are interested in replacing regular goalkeeper Tim Howard with Chelsea’s out-of-favour shot stopper at the close of the 2015-16 campaign.

The 28-year-old, who has 46 international caps for his country, has kept eight clean sheets in 20 appearances in all competitions for the defending league champions so far this season.

Begovic, who arrived at Stamford Bridge from English top-flight rivals Stoke City back in July for a reported £8m, is said to be frustrated at playing second fiddle to the Blues’ fellow ‘keeper Thibaut Courtois this term.

The report suggests that Toffees boss Roberto Martinez could hand him a way out of Chelsea this summer, with Everton’s 35-year-old shot stopper Howard set to return to the USA.
