Everton went down 1-0 at struggling Swansea City on Saturday to suffer back-to-back Premier League defeats for the first time this season.

Ronald Koeman’s men were lethargic throughout and were deservedly beaten by the Swans in South Wales, although it doesn’t detract from a decent debut season for the Dutchman at Goodison Park, with the Toffees guaranteed at least a seventh place finish in the table.

And attentions appear to be turning to next season and their quest to sustain a challenge to the top six, with The Daily Mirror reporting that Koeman has been given the go-ahead to talk to Ajax midfielder Davy Klaassen and Malaga forward Sandro Ramirez.

The Everton boss was in attendance as Klaassen helped the Dutch giants brush aside Lyon 4-1 in their Europa League semi-final first leg last week, and although the 24-year-old didn’t net that night, he has still managed a seriously impressive 19 goals and 12 assists in all competitions this term.

And Malaga’s Sandro has also embarked on an excellent campaign, with the young hotshot bagging 16 goals in all competitions for the La Liga outfit, including 14 in the Spanish top-flight to help them to 11th place in the league table.

Crucially, it’s a double deal that isn’t going to set the Toffees back too much, as Sandro has a clause in his contract which says he can go for just £5 million this summer, while Ajax are reportedly ready for Klaassen’s departure at the end of the season, with a deal worth £20 million thought to do the trick.

Koeman’s Everton are currently 11 points adrift of the Premier League’s top four with just two games to go, so if they are to bridge that gap over the coming years, signings like Sandro and Klaassen simply need to happen, and may well happen this summer.
