Everton are preparing a bid for Jamie Vardy- if they lose Romelu Lukaku.

According to a report in The Express the Leicester striker is a likely replacement if a £100m bid comes in from Chelsea or Manchester United for the Belgian striker.

Vardy signed a lucrative new contract a year ago on the back of interest from Arsenal but could be interested in a change of club as the Leicester title winning side begins to break up.

Kasper Schmeichel and Riyad Mahrez are expected to be sold this summer as the memories of the 2016 title win and Champions League run begins to fade.

Despite efforts to get Lukaku onto a new contract the striker has refused to put pen to paper and is out of contract in June 2019.

Rather than go through another season of speculation as the clock ticks down on his contract Everton may accept a transfer deal provided they get the price they want and can bring in a proven scorer like Vardy to take Lukaku’s place.
