Ronald Koeman will look to tie down a key asset of his Everton squad by handing youngster Tom Davies a new and improved deal, according to reports from ESPN.

The 18-year-old made his debut against Koeman’s Southampton at the end of last season and has flourished under the former Saints boss this season, making 15 Premier League appearances – nine of which have been starts – scoring once and assisting three.

The midfielder, who has worked his way through the England ranks from U16 up to U19, signed a five-year deal last year, however, given his emergence since then the powers that be at Goodison Park are preparing a significant hike in pay to bring him closer to those he plays alongside.

With rumours of star man Romelu Lukaku looking to leave in the near future, Koeman will not want to rest on his laurels and will be keen to tie down young talents such as Davies in order to keep them happy on Merseyside.
