Everton seem certain to miss out on Sandro Ramirez.

According to a report in The Independent Atletico Madrid are closing in on a bargain £5.1m deal to sign the Malaga striker.

Ramirez has become one of the best emerging strikers in La Liga after quitting Barcelona last summer in search of first team football with Malaga.

A record of a goal every second game in his first La Liga campaign had the flocks taking note of the buy out clause in his contract as Malaga tried to negotiate a new deal.

Atletico are believed to be close to having a registration ban lifted and have got Ramirez lined up as a target with the players agent spotted at the Vicente Calderon Stadium on Monday.

Ronald Koeman viewed Ramirez as a striker to step into the boots of Romelu Lukaku but will now have to step up his efforts elsewhere to find a replacement for the Belgian who is likely to move on this summer.
