While Everton have been far from the worse side defensively this season, their tally of 44 goals is the joint-most of any side in the top seven of the Premier League, and will need improving if they are to sustain a challenge to the top six next term.

And one man they could look to improve that backline is United’s Daley Blind, who hasn’t always been first choice at Old Trafford this season under Mourinho.

The Dutchman only managed 20 Premier League starts for the Red Devils this term, and that’s in a team ravaged by injuries for much of the campaign, and when everyone is fit to play, it’s difficult to see the 27-year-old getting into the side on a regular basis.

Thus, with Leighton Baines 33 in December, Koeman should look to strengthen his left-back options with the signing of Blind this summer.
