Everton have made a promising start under Rafa Benitez, recording four points from their opening two matches.

The Toffees followed up an opening win against Southampton with a 2-2 draw at Leeds United on Saturday.

Bentiez has brought in four players so far since his arrival, with winger Demarai Gray shining in the opening matches.

Now, according to the Liverpool Echo, it seems that the blue side of Merseyside are upping their efforts to make that five summer signings.

Paterson has burst onto the scene.

It’s claimed that Everton have been rebuffed in their approach to sign Rangers right-back Nathan Patterson.

The 19-year-old made a real breakthrough for Steven Gerrard’s side last term which also saw him feature at Euro 2020 for Scotland.

Benitez is thought to be looking for a new right-back to provide extra cover for Seamus Coleman.

However, it’s not yet clear if the Premier League side are planning to make a second bid for Patterson, who is contracted to the Ibrox club until 2024.
