Premier League outfit Everton are targeting a summer move for Arsenal outcast Lucas Perez, according to The Sun.

The 28-year-old only moved to the Emirates Stadium last summer after impressing for Deportivo La Coruna, yet it just hasn’t worked out for him in North London, with the forward managing just two Premier League starts in the entirety of the campaign.

And with just a handful of others in the Gunners’ domestic and European exploits, it doesn’t appear that Perez has much of a future under Arsene Wenger, and his struggles have reportedly attracted interest from Merseyside outfit Everton.

The Toffees finished seventh in the Premier League this season and nine points behind sixth place Manchester United, and if they are going to bridge that gap to the top six next time round, they will need serious reinforcements this summer.

And with the future of star striker Romelu Lukaku uncertain, more firepower will be needed, and although 28-year-old Perez didn’t get many opportunities to show what he can do, he did score seven times in all competitions, including a hat-trick in their 4-1 win over Basel in the Champions League.

A fine strike away at Bournemouth back in January also underlined his credentials in front of goal, yet with his future at Arsenal looking grim, Koeman may well offer him a Premier League lifeline this summer.
