Everton are reportedly preparing an offer for Dynamo Kiev star Andriy Yarmolenko.

The 25-year-old was instrumental as the Ukrainian side knocked the Toffees out of last season’s Europa League, and Roberto Martinez is now keen to add the talented playmaker to his squad.

During Saturday’s impressive win at Southampton, Blues fans protested against the board’s lack of spending this summer, but if they are to land Yarmolenko they will be expected to pay around £15 million.

The Ukraine international would consider a switch to Goodison Park as he has publicly expressed that he is seeking a fresh challenge after spending his whole career to date with Kiev, where he has scored 98 times in 267 games.

Let’s get this right as it’s always being reported incorrectly. Everton fans are protesting about a lack of investment for 16 years. Not 1p has been invested by any board member in that time. The club has been asset stripped for 16 years, we even sold our new training facility and now rent it back. We don’t own our own megastore and you can’t buy a kit anywhere because of the awful kitbag deal we entered into. 2 failed ground moves, the first because we didn’t have 30 million that we said we had ring fenced and the second because the board lied to fans about the scheme and said our current ground would fail its safety certificate (we are still in it and it’s not been improved). Just before season ticket renewal it was announced that we may move to another location close by, within a couple of months we are told it’s not going to happen. We have been told that the club has been for sale for years but not a sniff whilst every other club have been bought out and some twice. Constant lies and broken promises, and escalating debt with no investment or business plan.

When some other clubs protest against their owners (United, Liverpool, Newcastle etc), the media highlight their plight. With us there is a misconception that we are well run and should be careful what we wish for. Plucky little Everton.
