Draw specialists Everton meet in-form Leicester, with the visitors needing a positive result to ensure that they will tuck into their Christmas turkey sitting pretty at the top of the Premier League table.
The Toffees have shared the spoils in four of their last five games – and in each of the past three – and need to find a way to turn those draws into wins if they are to trouble the European places come the end of the season.
Everton do have a seriously in-form striker in their ranks; Romelu Lukaku has scored in each of his past six league games as the Belgian seeks to match Jamie Vardy’s exploits – another goal this weekend will put him just four games away from doing so.
Only Manchester City have scored more goals on their own patch than Everton so far this season, with Roberto Martinez’s side potentially able to end the weekend in the top six if they win and other results go their way.
Leicester are looking to protect an unbeaten away record as they head to Goodison Park, just five days after their superb season continued with a fine 2-1 win over Chelsea.
Claudio Ranieri’s side are proving that their early season form was no fluke, and top the table on merit ahead of their trip to Merseyside; in Riyad Mahrez and Jamie Vardy they have the league’s stand out attacking players so far.
Both matches between these two sides last year ended 2-2, and it would appear a safe bet to back both teams to net in this one too; Leicester have scored in every match they have played this season, whilst Everton haven’t failed to find the net since mid-October.
James McCarthy could return to the Everton set up after missing their last three games with a hip injury, whilst John Stones has recovered from the heavy fall he suffered at Norwich last weekend and will start.
League leaders Leicester will be without key midfielder Danny Drinkwater, who picked up a hamstring injury on Monday night, whilst full-backs Jeffrey Schlupp and Ritchie De Laet are also unavailable. Robert Huth serves a one-match ban after picking up his fifth yellow card of the season against Chelsea.
