Everton are reportedly closely monitoring England international Tom Heaton ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Liverpool Echo.

The Premier League side, who currently sit 12th in the English top-flight standings following last weekend’s 2-0 defeat at home to Arsenal, are considering making a move for the Burnley shot stopper as an ideal replacement for fellow ‘keeper Tim Howard, who is set to return to Major League Soccer come the end of the current 2015-16 campaign.

The 29-year-old; who has not yet made his senior debut for the Three Lions, but is included in England’s squads to face Germany and the Netherlands in forthcoming friendlies, has kept an impressive 15 clean sheets in 40 appearances in all competitions for the Championship outfit so far this season.

Heaton; who started his career with Premier League giants Manchester United, but failed to make a first-team appearance for the Red Devils between 2004 and 2010, has impressed for Burnley this term between the sticks as Sean Dyche’s side currently sit top of the table in English football’s second-tier.
