Manchester United have focused their intentions on landing Everton striker Romelu Lukaku this summer following their failed pursuit of Antoine Griezmann, according to The Daily Express.

Reports yesterday suggested that 26-year-old Griezmann, scorer of 26 goals this season, was set to stay at Spanish giants Atletico Madrid beyond the summer, and the France international then all but confirmed that with a Twitter post last night.

And that means that United boss Jose Mourinho will have to turn his attentions away from the 135-goal forward, and reports suggest that Everton goal machine Lukaku is now their top priority this summer.

The Belgium international embarked on yet another excellent season in the Premier League this time round, netting 25 goals and laying on six assists to help Ronald Koeman’s men to seventh in the table, just nine points adrift of Mourinho’s United.

However, the 23-year-old rejected a new contract offer at Goodison Park earlier in the campaign and may well leave the club this summer, and with the Red Devils in need of greater firepower following the long-term injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic, they may look to make a move in the coming weeks and months.

Nonetheless, United won’t be alone in their pursuit of Lukaku, with former employers Chelsea, who sold him to Everton for £28 million back in 2014, also thought to be interested, so it very much remains to be seen where the Belgian forward will be playing his trade come August.
