Ronald Koeman took over from the sacked Roberto Martinez in the summer with the brief to get Everton back up near the European places.

The Toffees lumbered to an 11th place finish in the Premier League last season, which ultimately cost Martinez his job, but they have looked a different side under former Southampton boss Koeman this time around.

His side currently sit seventh in the league having won five of their opening 11 games, including four of their first five matches.

Things have stuttered in recent weeks, with just one win in six meaning that they have fallen out of the top four, and they now find themselves six points behind fourth place Arsenal.

Although they haven’t been at their best in the last few weeks, Everton look a lot better defensively and in Romelu Lukaku an Yannick Bolasie, they will always carry a goal threat.

Nevertheless, international football took centre stage this fortnight, and several Everton players received call-ups to their national teams as important World Cup qualifiers took place across the globe.
