Left-back Bridge, who won 36 international caps for the Three Lions between 2002 and 2009, retired from football on May 6, 2014, following his release by Championship outfit Reading.

The ex-Premier League player will be joined by the likes of Gogglebox’s Scarlett Moffatt, ex-Strictly Come Dancing’s Ola Jordan, former Countdown co-host Carol Vorderman, model Lisa Snowdon, comedian Joel Dommett, professional dancer Jordan Banjo, actor Larry Lamb and Olympic gold medallist Sam Quek in the Australian jungle.

Bridge has revealed that his role in camp will be “the person to initiate games, fun and exercises,” via newsbeat.
