The international break is, more often than not, a baron an lonely time for fans of club football. However, this weekend, Southampton and Newcastle fans had something to celebrate as two of their heroes shone on the international stage.

Serbian duo, Dusan Tadic and Aleksander Mitrovic stole the show as their efforts were enough to earn a 3-2 win over Austria in World Cup qualifying.

A first half brace from the Newcastle striker, both of which were setup by Tadic, followed by a second half winner from the Saints playmaker, sealed the win and took Serbia to top of Group D, ahead of Wales and the Republic of Ireland.

27-year-old Tadic, has been a leading light for Serbia so far in this qualification campaign as they, along with the two home nations sides in the group, remain undefeated thus far.

The former FC Twente man, who was brought to St Mary’s in Ronald Koeman’s first summer in charge, has been unstoppable for his nation this term…

And his form, along with Mitrovic’s double, has lead to heaps of praise on social media…
