Chelsea have reportedly been handed a boost in their pursuit of Chile international Arturo Vidal, according to the Daily Star.
The defending Premier League champions, who were knocked out of the UEFA Champions League last week by Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain, are interested in signing the FC Bayern Munich midfielder this summer.
The 28-year-old, who has 73 international caps for his country, has scored three goals and provided eight assists in 36 appearances in all competitions for the Bundesliga leaders so far this season.
Vidal, who arrived at the Allianz Arena back in July 2015 from reigning Serie A champions Juventus in a deal worth a reported £31m, is under contract with the German giants until 2019.
However the report suggests that Chelsea are keen on making Vidal one of Antonio Conte’s first summer signings at Stamford Bridge later this year as they hope to appoint the Italy national team coach as their new manager after Euro 2016.
Vidal, who is thought to be rated at £30m, was quoted by the report saying, “I have always said if I go to war I would take Conte with me.
“We will see what happens.”
