FIFA moving the summer transfer window could hamper Manchester United, according to Manchester Evening News

The summer transfer window was due to open on June the 1st, as usual, but now FIFA have announced that will be delayed and will sit between the two seasons.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, it is clear that the current season will run longer than expected, and therefore a FIFA spokesperson has released the following statement.

“It is now obvious that the current season will not end when people thought it would. Therefore, it is proposed that contracts be extended until such time that the season does actually end.”

The change in transfer window dates could scupper United’s plans.

However, in United’s case they have Odion Ighalo on loan who’s contract officially expires on May 31st, as the clubs would have fully expected the season to be over by then.

With their season dates running differently to those in England, this could cause a rift between United and Shanghai Shenhua, especially as it seems Nigerian Ighalo is looking to continue his football at United.
