With the international break coming to an end, attention will now revert to the Premier League which resumes on Saturday.

Players from several top flight sides have been in action over the past ten days, with fixtures having taken place across the globe including the Nations League and qualifying for next year’s African Cup of Nations.

Several Premier League players impressed during the break, and here we take a look at five who were particularly impressive on international duty.

Jack Grealish – Manchester City/England

Winger Jack Grealish has failed to establish himself as a certain starter at Manchester City, and that undoubtedly contributed to his omission from the England squad for the European Championships earlier this summer. He was recalled by interim boss Lee Carsley, though, and made an instant impact by scoring against the Republic of Ireland – the nation he represented at youth level – on Saturday. Grealish was once again impressive as the Three Lions defeated Finland on Tuesday, and he will hope to be included in the squad for games against Greece and Finland next month.

Harry Wilson – Fulham/Wales

Harry Wilson hasn’t started any of the Whites’ three Premier League games so far this season, but the midfielder was hugely impressive for Wales. He impressed during their 0-0 draw against Turkey, before providing an assist and then scoring against Montenegro to help Craig Bellamy’s side into a 2-0 lead inside four minutes.

Bruno Fernandes – Manchester United/Portugal

Bruno Fernandes has failed to score or assist in Manchester United’s opening three games of the new Premier League season, but he did both over the course of the international break. The midfielder provided an assist during their win over win over Croatia, before scoring a goal to help Roberto Martinez’ side come from behind to beat Scotland.

Erling Haaland – Manchester City/Norway

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland has started the new season in phenomenal form, scoring seven times in three league games, and he continued his impressive form on the international stage. The forward scored the winner for Norway against Austria – his 32nd goal in 35 games for his country at senior level.

Haaland has already scored eight times so far this season for club and country

Kevin De Bruyne – Manchester City/Belgium

Midfielder Kevin De Bruyne’s hunt for international glory with Belgium once again ended in disappointment over the summer as they were knocked out of the European Championships by France in the last 16. De Bruyne remains a crucial player for Belgium, though, and scored twice last week as Domenico Todesto’s side cruised to a 3-1 win over Israel.

De Bruyne scored twice against Israel – taking him to 30 international goals
