Arsenal will be hoping to continue their good run of form when they face Burnley on Saturday afternoon.

Mikel Arteta’s side have now won four consecutive Premier League matches following a blip over the festive period, dragging themselves firmly back into the Premier League title race.

Last time out, the Gunners produced a fine display to beat London rivals West Ham United 6-0 at The London Stadium, and Arteta will be hoping to see a similar performance against the Clarets on Saturday.

Ahead of the game, though, one of Arsenal’s fringe players has departed the club on loan.

The Gunners confirmed on Thursday that winger Marquinhos has joined Brazilian side Fluminense on loan until January next year.

The 20-year-old joined Arsenal from Brazilian club Sao Paolo back in 2022 but has only made six appearances for the English club across all competitions, although he has scored once and provided one assist for Arteta’s side.

Marquinhos is embarking on his third loan spell since joining Arsenal in 2022

In January last year, Marquinhos joined Championship side Norwich City on loan and made 11 appearances for the Canaries across all competitions, scoring once.

Marquinhos returned to London last summer and was then sent to French side Nantes ahead of the current campaign.

He made just seven appearances for the Ligue 1 side, though, totalling less than 150 minutes, and was therefore recalled in January.

Recently, the attacker has been on international duty, representing Brazil’s Under-23s at the CONMEBOL pre-Olympic tournament in Venezuela.

Despite starting his third loan spell in less than two years, Marquinhos is still contracted to the Gunners until 2027.

The youngster would be competing with the likes of Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard for a place in Arteta’s side, so the Gunners have likely decided to loan him out once more in order to help his development.
