Chelsea have been tipped to complete the signing of Argentina international striker Gonzalo Higuain, by former England manager Fabio Capello.

The Premier League club, who have yet to confirm any summer signings so far this transfer window, have been linked with a move to lure the Juventus forward to Stamford Bridge ahead of the 2018-19 campaign.

The 30-year-old, who has 75 international caps for his country, scored 23 goals and provided eight assists in 50 appearances in all competitions for the Serie A champions last season.

Higuain, who joined the Turin giants back in July 2016 following his high profile move from Italian rivals Napoli, has netted 55 times in just 105 games overall for the club, winning back-to-back league titles and Coppa Italias.

Following Cristiano Ronaldo’s transfer to Juve on Tuesday, ex-England coach Capello believes Argentine Higuain will leave the Italian side this summer, and expects him to sign for Chelsea ahead of the 2018-19 term.

He told Sky Sports Italia (via Football Italia), “I think Higuain will leave and I think he’s heading towards Chelsea, where Maurizio Sarri is waiting with open arms.”

Higuain is contracted at Juventus until June 2021, and valued at £54m.
