Liverpool will be hoping to maintain their lead at the top of the Premier League table when they face struggling Newcastle United on Monday.

The Reds moved top of the table with victory over Burnley at Turf Moor on Tuesday, before Arsenal missed the chance to move back into top spot as they succumbed to a 2-0 loss against West Ham United on Thursday evening.

Manager Jurgen Klopp will be hoping that his side can take advantage of the Magpies’ recent run of poor form, with Eddie Howe’s team having lost four of their last five Premier League matches.

Off the pitch, it appears that one of Liverpool’s former players could be in line for a sensational return to the Premier League.

Striker Roberto Firmino departed Anfield over the summer, but he could soon return to England, according to TalkSPORT.

Firmino could make a sensational return to England just months after leaving Liverpool

The Brazilian joined Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli after his Liverpool contract expired at the end of last season, but the report claims that the forward could soon leave Al-Ahli after enduring a tough start to life in the Middle East.

The 32-year-old netted a hat-trick on his debut for the club, but has since failed to score in 17 subsequent appearances and his performances have prompted criticism from the club’s supporters.

Firmino has also failed to start any of Al-Ahli’s last seven Pro League games, being omitted from the squad entirely for one.

During his time in England, Firmino scored 111 goals and provided 79 assists in 362 appearances for the Reds across all competitions.

The Brazil international won no fewer than seven trophies with the Merseyside club, including both the Premier League and Champions League.

The report claims that clubs in England and Turkey, as well as other Saudi teams, are interested in signing Firmino when the transfer window reopens next month.
