Tottenham Hotspur will be hoping to close in on the Champions League qualification places when they face Bournemouth on Saturday.

Spurs welcome The Cherries to north London a week after defeating high-flyers Brighton and Hove Albion, following draws against both Southampton and Everton.

The Lilywhites remain without a full-time manager at the helm, and they will also be without interim boss Cristian Stellini for the game against Bournemouth after the Italian was sent off during the win over The Seagulls.

A number of names have been linked with the vacant managerial post, but it now appears that Tottenham are considering a Championship boss as a potential replacement for Antonio Conte.

As reported by The Sun, the north London outfit have placed Burnley manager Vincent Kompany at the top of their shortlist of candidates to replace Conte.

The Belgian has taken the Championship by storm this season, guiding his side to promotion with a record seven games remaining.

Kompany is one of those being considered for the Spurs job

The Clarets are now closing in on the league title, but it appears that they may face a difficult task to keep hold of their manager.

Kompany, 37, spent 11 years as a player with Manchester City, winning 12 trophies including four Premier League titles.

The ex-defender retired from playing in 2020 and first ventured into management with former club Anderlecht, before joining Burnley last summer.

This term, his side have won 26 of their 40 Championship matches, losing only twice.

The Clarets also reached the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, before being defeated 6-0 by Kompany’s former side Manchester City.

Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is said to be a huge admirer of Kompany, having been impressed by his performance during his first season as a manager in English football.

The former Belgium international was previously one of the outsiders to land the job at Tottenham, but the report now claims that he is the London side’s top target.
