Former Red Gary Neville has harsh words to say about £60million Manchester United midfielder Fred, when speaking on SkySports.

Manchester United and Arsenal fought out an entertaining 1-1 draw at Old Trafford yesterday evening, albeit in a game of little quality.

SkySports pundit and United legend Gary Neville had strong words to say about the lack of quality, especially midfielder Fred who was a 74th minute substitute.

Fred has only started one game this season, coming against Rochdale in the Carabao Cup.

The 26-year-old Brazilian joined the Red Devils from Shakhtar Donetsk last summer and is yet to hit the ground running with his new club.

Neville had harsh words to say, when speaking on SkySports: “I’m not sure. I’m not sure. I’ve not seen really anything of him in the 12 months he’s been here to justify the price tag.

‘I think there’s been flashes – I thought he played a really good game away at PSG in the Champions League when Manchester United had that wonderful night.

‘He looks like he takes the ball, he’s tidy on it but I don’t see a goalscorer, I don’t see a defensive midfield player, I don’t see a runner. I’m not quite sure what I see.

‘Essentially for £60million, you’d like to fit into one of those categories.”
